We are in a race with China in energy, AI, and infrastructure. In 2024, solar and wind met 84% of China’s electricity demand growth, and fossil fuel use dropped. Chinese firms now hold 75% of global renewable patents, and their tech is helping emerging markets leapfrog the U.S. in electrification.
China is also investing more than any other country, $625 billion in emerging energy technology last year alone. In AI, China’s top models still trail U.S. benchmarks, but the gap is closing fast. To protect our national security and economic future, we must accelerate innovation, invest in new technology, and ensure America stays ahead.
To win this race, we must continue to invest in the grid, expand transmission lines, and embrace every form of energy production, legacy and emerging technologies, to ensure innovation reaches every corner of the country.
