Are you concerned about the discussions regarding energy costs increasing, and its impact on our residential and commercial utility bills throughout Wyoming?
We are, too.
As small business owners, ranchers, parents and energy professionals, we know that every Wyomingite has seen increased costs over the last several years, and each one affects us. They affect our ability to make ends meet at home, keep the lights on at our jobs and preserve our Wyoming businesses throughout the state.
Sen. Charles Scott (R-Casper) says he wants to do “some radical things” to change Wyoming’s energy policy.
But what’s so radical about abandoning free-market principles and ignoring the facts to suppress anything and everything that might possibly compete with fossil fuels? The Legislature has been doing that for years. Perhaps the only thing “radical” about Scott’s most recent demonization of renewables is his unabashed disregard for the available data.
Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon is promoting an "all-of-the-above" energy policy that features advances in wind and nuclear technology, despite pushback from his conservative state.
Though Gordon is the Republican leader of the nation's top coal mining state, he's emerging as a leading voice on climate-friendly energy projects. His ambitious, net-negative emissions goal prompted sanctions from the state's Republican party, but Gordon says he's moving forward regardless.
Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins is one of a few local officials participating in a video series by Powering Up Wyoming that highlights the benefits of renewable energy for Cowboy State communities.
One video displays “How do you see wind supporting our legacy industries?” in white letters on a black background. It then cuts to Collins explaining that Wyoming loves its abundant coal, oil and natural gas resources.
Powering Up Wyoming, a Wyoming grassroots organization focused on promoting wind, solar, and storage as part of an “all of the above” energy strategy for Wyoming, is proud to introduce our advisory board of directors. Along with Powering Up Wyoming’s over 5000 committed supporters, the Advisory Board of Directors will help lead efforts to educate and inform Wyoming citizens about the tremendous benefits the industry can bring to the state in terms of jobs, revenue, and diversifying our economy for the long-term. “As our state grapples with funding for the everyday services that we all rely on, renewable energy development is well poised to play an increasingly important role in maintaining our status as an energy leader,” Chris Brown, Powering Up Wyoming’s executive director, said in a statement. “Our board brings a diverse set of backgrounds and industries together to inform Wyoming residents about the opportunities that wind, solar, and storage already provide our communities and will continue to well into the future.” Read full article.
